Djing with 2 soundcards + mixer (no midi controller)

Post by jrd » Mon Jul 10, 2006 11:37 am

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to set ableton up to DJ using 2 soundcards and a mixer (not a midi mixer)

I'd like to be able to have my 2 soundcards hooked up to my mixer and be able to hear two tracks at the same time but coming through seperate channels etc.

Thanks :)

Forgot to add....

I have an M-audio audiophile 2469 and a standard pc soundcard.

I can't seem to get any output from the standard pc soundcard, it seems that the M-audio card has taken over the other soundcard completely.

See here for using asio4all to control multiple soundcards. It might work..

if that doesn't do it, you could consider buying a SoundBlaster Live card for nearly nothing. These have two outputs (front/rear) and when used with the kX drivers (free), you can use them as a stereo master and a stereo monitoring output.

I've installed asio4all, but it's only showing one soundcard. It's like installing the M-audio soundcard has just taken my onboard soundcard away.

Any idea how I could get the old soundcard running?

Thanks

Try un-installing the M-Audio drivers and Asio4all, then re-install asio4all. You should then be abke to see the separate outs in Ableton.

I uninstalled both, now my pc is saying there are no soundcards...

Maybe my onboard soundcard just doesn't work when another soundcard is being used??

I did do that, and it was still saying I had no soundcards in the pc.

I had to install the M-audio software again!

Of course, all sound card drivers need to be install and recognised by your system, for asio4all to integrate them.
