$200. i thought it might go higher since it retails for $300, but i don't think there is that much demand for it. frankly, its uselessness pissed me off enough that i'm happy it got me enough to get the Indigo. and no, the Indigo DJ does not have inputs. i realized i never used the 2|6 ins - all i really want is the ability to prelisten or cue a mix.

6/2 performance

Post by DJ Elio-Sonic » Mon Dec 01, 2003 10:12 am

I use a 6/2 with MacOSX. No problems here! Fiddle a little with latecy values untill you get the right sound and response. Just tape it to a rack or table during live perormances; it has a tedency to fall off ;-)

if you're a mac user, the emi works great and i've heard many praises.

pc support, not surprising, is lackluster. given that emagic doesn't seem dedicated to providing further windows support, i'd opt for another sound card.

plus, i'd be dubious of any usb based sound card. for my money, i'd stick with firewire or pcmcia.

i use on a pc and with live can get the 'driver' latency to about 12ms with the option.txt file quite comfortably with just live (6.1 ms actual latency - i still havent figured out what the diff between the two is... :? ) , have to up it if rewiring to it, but overall it's to be expected given it's USB1 and has 2ins and 6outs - m-audio failed miserably with that many i/o with the quattro (just didn't work) and given that i want a monitor headphone out AND an input (how else you gonna sample off vinyl straight into live - well worth doing in it's own right) it was about the only one i could find around that price with more than 2 outs AND inputs as well. Might be more around now, but i don't know. I like the look of the edirol USB2 one (10/10 24/96) but that's around £750quid so be a while for that.

I'm managing fine with the 2/6, i'm sure i could do better, but it does what i need it to for around the top of the budget i'd allowed. I had m-audio DUO which I really liked, but it didn't have the outputs to prelisten, but if you don't care about that it's great for the price
