quantizing issues

i'm trying to learn how to quantize but am having a serious amount of difficulty...can someone give me a quick runthrough of where to start b/c everything i record is sounding way off beat (sounded better before trying to quantize!)i am rewiring through fruity loops so i'm not sure if i should be setting the quan. in fl or in ableton...anything will help at this point!!

Always put the start flag on the '1' on all your loops and make sure they run for an even amount of time, like 1, 2, 4, 8 etc measures.

When you organise a loop it helps to have another known good loop running, or use the metronome. For me, I know a loop is in the pocket when the metronome sounds like a cowbell and fades into the mix. I have mine turned halfway down. The metronome volume is the same as the cue output, the dial above the master volume. Some people hate the metronome, I use it about half the time.

It all takes time and practice.

am i doin all of this in fruityloops or ableton?? idk what settings to keep in fruityloops for quantizing

I have no clue about Fruityloops, this is all in Ableton.
