MOTU 828 Mk2 & MIDI from FCB1010

Not sure this is in the correct forum, but hopefully osmeone can help.

I use a Motu 828Mk2 with Live to grab everyone in the band's signal, so i can sample and effect them. The system seems to handle this fine.

I recently acquired a Behringer FCB1010, which works excellently on my desktop with a digi001, and works fine on a different computer with a terratec dmx6 fire card. But when I plug the fcb midi out to the 828Mk2 midi in, Live receives no signal.

Another guy in the band has said this:

The MIDI on the MOTU is only ment to control the MOTU itself as if you
were using it as a mixer through a MIDI interface. There is no possible
connection between the MIDI port and the FW port. I tried at length to see
if we could to a full MIDI bus capture to capture Dan's keys etc, I scourced the manual and put the hardware in every config possible and I am certain it is only a control interface to the mixer function.

Please can someone tell me he is wrong, and talk me through how to prove it to him!?!?!?! What do I need to set up in the MOTU and in live so my fcb signals are routed through the midi in to the fw connection to my PC, and thus into live?

(Note I use other midi controllers fine, through usb connections. If I get completely stuck, I will route the fcb signal through by BCR2000. But I'd really like to work out if the motu can act as a midi host for devices in Live)

Hi,
I don't know so far how the 828 Mk2 works with the fcb 1010.
But I have connected one of my midi - controllers o the 828 Mk2 (fire-wire version) and can use it in Cubase SX3.
In Cubase, the Midi - ports of the Motu 828 appear as usable Midi ports and it works without any porblem.
So you should be able to use it for the fcb 1010.
