Not reading .asd files and cannot warp

Post by spadgham » Thu Jul 13, 2006 5:59 am

Hi there,

I am having problems with both Live 5.2 and 5.0.1 (I opened the older installation to see if could resolve my problem). Basically, Live does not seem to read .asd files nor does it carry out any warping. In the first instance, I opened some mp3 files which I know I have previously warped. However, when the file opened in the clip view the file was not warped at all. There was only the number 1 warp marker at the beginning of the track. I then tried to warp the track. I moved the markers to the first downbeat then right clicked and selected "Warp from Here". It appeared to do nothing. No further warp markers were added and the piece was woefully out when played alongside the metronome. Could someone help me please? The only thing I have done with these mp3 fies that I can think may cause a problem is that I have moved them from one directory to another. The mp3 files were always accompanied by their respective .asf files though. Many thanks.

Cheers, Simon

can you warp successfully with .wav files?

i have heard many people complain about the quirkiness of .asd files. like not being able to transfer warped files to different computers. so i would not be too surprised if a directory change could screw things up.

however i don't know about why it won't warp with new commands.

Basically once you warp an mp3 don't ever open in anything elese but Ableton.. I gave up trying to DJ with Ableton. I warped a whole folder of mp3's that an mp3 player program opened and scanned and lost all warp data.

I've also had certain tracks, That I save as Live clips crash Live consistently for a two month period. All of the sudden they work and then don't again.

Nothing against Live, I love the program, but with all the elbow grease that goes into warping I'll stick to my cdjs. Especially if another program scanning your mp3's wipes out all your warp data (Even though the .asd files still show in the root folder)

P.s. yes i clicked save on all my warped tracks, and one upped it by saving them as .alc's
