Slowdown/Freeze when analyzing MP3s - help

Post by Hassouni » Fri Jul 14, 2006 3:31 pm

I've been using Live 5 since January, and for the last few months, Live will often drop audio, and the play/stop/etc buttons don't respond. Last night, I dragged two MP3s into session view to analyze, and they went quickly and played fine, but a 3rd one took forever, stopped audio and bogged down the whole system. I started a new set, which solved the problem, but only temporarily, and it occurred again, forcing me to shut down live. I upgrade from 5.0 to 5.2 thinking that might solve it, and it didn't.
I'm using a 17" Powerbook G4 1GHz, with 512MB ram, with all other programs shut. I'm not using any plug ins, precious few effects, and last night, no midi controller.

The weird thing is, when I first got Live, it didn't do this....

Any ideas? would another 1GB ram be a good idea?

Don't know but, make sure you have set the CPU to the highest. If you go to the system preferences then click energy saver go to options and then set the processor performance to the highest.
Maybe that helps.

It's automatically set at the highest, so that's not it
