Live and Virus TI problem
Live and Virus TI problem
Just bought a new Virus TI, which I am very excited about. However, I have got it running and installed the latest software and the audio is crackling. I was wondering if anyone knows of a possible solution to this please?
My setup is listed Below
Live 5.2, Windows XP SP2, AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.20 Ghz, 2Gb Ram, Delta 44 soundcard, Midisport 4x4, Access Virus TI, Nord Lead 2, Mackie VLZ1402Pro mixer

Check out the forums

Crackles and pops on any buffer size when using the virus as a soundcard.
OS 1.1 beta is out now but did not fix any problems if anything it made them worse and some people have had to return theres because of a hardware problem.
I did manage to work with it for a while by just using my own sound card with the usb plug in to my mac and TI as a plug in, but then i would still get cracks and pops from time to time.
my advice is to wait until its stable, you dont want head fuck its not worth worring about when the next update is and will it fix the problems.

Make sure your latency isn't too low, and make sure the patch volume isn't too high. It's easy to get digital clipping when programming your own patches or modifying existing patches, so check your crackling with existing patches.
If you're talking about light crackles happening regularly (more noticable in some patches than others).
My crackles were solved by getting a PCI USB2 card and running the TI exclusively through that.
Doesn't cost that much. I'm using the Belkin 2 port card.

Chris, this sounds like some solid advice.cs759 wrote:Make sure your latency isn't too low, and make sure the patch volume isn't too high. It's easy to get digital clipping when programming your own patches or modifying existing patches, so check your crackling with existing patches.

Well, I'm using my TI with a Mac, but, otherwise, same idea.
1) For a while, I couldn't use the USB outs on the TI. As of 1.1, I can.
2) Initially, I couldn't use my M-Audio Quattro with the TI. There was a conflict between their drivers...I couldn't even have the Quattro driver installed without it causing problems. I don't know if this is still an issue with the later Virus OSses, but you might want to try uninstalling your Delta 44 and see if that makes the problems go away. You might not think that's a good solution...but it was the only way I could get the Virus stable.
3) The Virus should be on a separate USB bus. That's everywhere in the documentation for it. Now, I did that, but 2) was actually my problem, so you might want to check 2) before you buy a PCI USB card. However, I guarantee it won't work if you have them both on the same bus.
Try setting the audio buffer and the plug-in buffer in Live both to 256 samples. I've had good results in that range.
