You're a christian, and a basic tenet of christianity is forgiveness.

I don't see anything there that condones capital punishment.jackmazzotti wrote:everything must be taken context
another tenant of Christianity is justice and the wrath of God. Forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ is escaping that. However society still needs to maintain law and order.
from Romans 13:1-4
1. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God.
2 Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.
3 For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the same,
4 for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn't bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.

IMO, termination (in a humane way) of abusers and all violent criminals will eventually break the cycle by removing them from the gene pool.stinky wrote:Killing someone for doing it is not going to stem the possibility that the abused will also become the abuser, and hence, the cycle continues. That's why rehabilitation is the only possibility to stem this type of abuse from further happening. I would never condone this type of abuse, and have myself been abused (not sexually), so, you're diatribe is for naught.
Also, rehabilition in our current understanding is also not what i'm advocating. Jail is not rehabilition. In fact, jail is a school for every type of immorality.

should joshua have been put to death for murdering every woman and child in jericho?
the demon of abraham tells moses, "thou shall not murder" (not kill as commonly translated) and then moments later comandes his people to completely destroy entire cities and every lving thing in them, man woman child and beast. This is repeated over and over in dueterony and joshua.
it would be nice if the religions of abraham's demon, christianity, judaism and islam, were all about peace and love as they sometimes claim. history and the present prove that to be untrue.
i'd also love to think that an age of true morality where all living things are respected by all is coming. will it happen? perhaps, but the human race needs to transend power morality and really find THE SOURCE. the well from which all life springs. good luck to us.
