Change Time signature?

Is there a way to create a time signature change in Live? Like 4/4 to 7/8?

not in the middle of a song. the most common solution is to program the whole song in 1/8, although it gets messy

I'm surprised this hasn't been added to Live 6. Am i wrong in thinking this is a major feature missing? i compose in multiple time signatures all the time. I work in Film and Soundtrack and this is a big part of the soundtrack world.
please Ableton make Live more than just a tool for single time signature dance music. I find Live so inspiring to work with yet i'm unable to most of the time because of this.

you can't change the master time signature, but you can change it in each clip you use... not sure if that helps you though...

actually, something else just occurred to me... does midi clock send time signature info? you could maybe use an external program to effectively send live a tempo map. i thought of numerology with this, but it's only on mac, and not too sure what platform you're on.
maybe you've already tried this, but hey, might be worth a shot if you haven't

it doesn't.
you can rewire it to sonar and have sonar setup to change the signature
every bar and it's won't matter to live (unless i am on crack)

you can't already effectively do this and keep everything straight with follow actions?

if you have a 4/4 clip which follow actions to a 7/4 clip which follow actions to a different 4/4 clip, it might not be called a time sig map, but you can sure build them this way.

i think live has been able to work with multiple sigs since at least live 4.

Anyone who cant manage making odd time signatures in ableton compositions
simply doesnt know how to use the program. Ableton clips in session view enable you to set any clip to any time signature which ofcourse can then be "arranged" in real time via the global record button which neatly tracks your "ODD" time signature clips into an arranged format (press tab) , what more do you need qua?

maybe you just stop using ableton all together

all feelings works with it i guess, but im not feeling agressive now , nor was i when i posted some opinions on this forum

i guess its just funny to see someone talking about time signatures not being supported when they obviously are , in various ways , it might just take a bit of individual nouse to work out how to impliment the things you want to do in ableton , doesnt mean that its not ableton be done.

i'm confused by your post

the per-clip time sig setting has no effect whatsoever on how the clip plays or behaves - it is only a place for you to note the sig - has as much effect as the clip color... that's right out of the manual

if you are playing a 7/8 clip in a 4/4 environment, then something's not going to line up to the grid. either you're going to pick a tempo where the eighth notes line up, and therefore your bars become meaningless -

or you're going to stretch it out so that the bars remain relevant, in which case all the in-between notes are not lining up to anything on the grid, so things like quantization and the metronome are useless

so obviously it's possible to construct the song - but in some way you're going to lose functionality without being able to change the time sig
