After one hour of having Live open I get dropout on playback

Post by Infin » Sun Jul 23, 2006 8:41 am

First of all, let me say thanks for any help that can be offered. Here's my problem.

I use Live to record a single track of guitar and singing from a mic connected to an M-Audio FastTrack Pro. I run Live Lite 4.0.4. I get the same problem every time, even if I run no effects.

After 45-60 minutes of recording and playback, the playback of a track starts to drop out intermetently for a millisecond about every one second. This only occurs in the playback because I can save the file, reopen live and play the track without dropout. Now if I leave Live open for a few hours the playback eventually cleans up and doesn't appear to come back no matter how long I run Live. Furthermore, sometimes the droppout will start mid-playback so the first have of the track plays fine then the droppout starts.

I'm running a HP Pavilion laptop
2.x Ghz
2 gigs of ram, with Fasttrack USB interface
input buffer at 42 ms/ output at 95

The most confusing thing is my CPU usage never goes over 7%, and stays around 2 or 3 even when playing the track with droppout.

This is driving me crazy, anybody know of a fix? Thanks.

Edit: I should mention that I've adjusted my power settings to always on and apperently my BIOS doesn't have a Hyperthreading ON/OFF setting (AMD turion mobile 64) so those two things haven't made a difference.
