I have one that I've been using for about a month. Here's my skinny:

Like:

--Finally I can mix without having to use my mouse
--I like transport controls being near my crossfader and analog control section
--Sweet beat-synchable LFO effects
--Joystick control!
--Start and stop MIDI devices from the mixer!
--Great routing flexibility
--Great that it is a soundcard. I can record and sample anything within seconds.
--Finally added a monitor cue to the XOne series. Thanks Andy!

Dislike:

--The automapping isn't complete. Every time I add a track, I have to remap it to the faders, kind of annoying.
--The I/O isn't very pro. I was hoping to see some XLR main outs or at least 1/4". Lots of RCA here...
--The MIDI implementation in general needs to be more "native". I spend too much time mapping controls.
--BPM sync. I've been trying to slave Live to a piece of vinyl, its not as accurate as I'd be comfortable with for a live mix.
--I'm a XOne 62 user. I miss the 4 band EQ

All that being said, I'm still familiarizing myself with it. I also hear there is a new driver update pending....

I'm enjoying the ecler nuo 4... maybe in a couple years I'll outgrow it and there will be something like the 3d that will blow it away... Until then when playing live it's great to have a real mixer to control software.

what do you use the joystick for and how do you use it?

At the Musikmesse in march in Frankfurt I talked with an Ecler distributor and asked him -veeery indirectly- if he knew that a NUO6 or else would come out and he told me two things.

1. Something will come before the end of 2006
2. It will have a new name, no NUO6-7 or 8.

I thought the MIDI pots were spaced too closely together. It was hard to get my fingers around the knobs.... and I have very small hands.

Also, they put the headphone jack on the front of the mixer.... yet they ship the mixer with 19" rack ears. But you can't flush mount the mixer if the headphone jack is on front, so what's the point of the rack ears? A&H wasn't thinking straight when they did that.

there is no "automap"

i used the supplied template for like 10 seconds..then made my own from scratch!

i like maping things myself so that doesnt bother me..

i don't know why there are only 3 phono inputs tho.. i can't input the decks where i want them

i think the auto sync works like a charm tap your foot..and remember the clock starts when you release the start button.not when you tap it, but if you hold start down 2 long the clock resets..so it down on the 4 and up on the 1 .. took me a couple trys..but then it was pie..i was amazed how tight it synced.

since you can output the tracks in live into the mixer..and eq mix there, i use all the midi faders for FX controll .. and themidi "cue" buttons to turn certain FX on and off (visual feedback is nice there)

solid kit, i'm totaly happy with mine, had it about 3 weeks now

but man i want the configuration utility for mac..a couple more week i suppose

But if you EQ this way, then Ableton does not save the EQ with your set. So if you were performing a live set within ableton, and wanted to record it.... you wouldn't get the EQing saved in the Live Set. It would be essentially an effect that is added after the audio leaves the soundcard, and enters the mixer.... if that makes any sense.

you can record the main outs of the mixer .. i like to record live anyway..
but wow a dedicated record out is missing i just realized that now ...

and no way to set an aux output to the crossfader as you can on the 62 (which would let you record the same as the main out)

so if your using fx1 for an input into live you can't just record the main outs into a clip

Yes.... but I am talking about recording WITHIN Ableton. (Recording your Live set)

If you route the Main Mix back into Ableton, and record.... it will save the audio as a new WAV, which eats up hard drive space, and slows performance.

I am talking about playing a set in Ableton, and hitting the record button in Ableton.... and being able to Render the Live Set later. This type of recording would not catch the EQ from the mixer part of the Xone 3D, and this is what I am talking about.
