It's cool to live where people go to vacation, SF being one of those places, Hawaii being another.

Said Ass shot was in the "Help, I'm a Girl" thread, how quickly the liberal media loses focus on such topics.

I'm an electrical engineer (doing audio hardware), wife is a marketing manager and is the one with the work ethic (she kicks ass). I know what you mean with 'not everyone can live here' I feel that way about California and when I think about moving to Oregon. BUT I love SF, it's a nice treasure trove of phun waiting to be explored.

But anyway, about that ass...

Rome: 45 mq = 900 € , no utilities included.
75 mq = 1200 € , no utilities included. 10 minutes from center in scooter (30 min at least on bus)
Preffer not to talk about utilities... taxes,bla bla bla....

was just thinking of something that has a major impact on cost of living in certain areas...transportation.
if i lived in manhattan, there would be ample modes of transport available,
so owning/paying for a vehicle, gas, insurance isn't a necessity.
for me and my wife, that's quite a bit of money...where we are now, you have to have your own transport, as cabs are rediculous $$ and bussing sucks time-wise(if they show at all), while the metro and bussing stops at 11:50 on weekdays.
after car payment, repairs annually, and gas, we're talking like at least a grand a month for two vehicles.
just something to add into the equation.

I'm in Huntsville, AL and am moving into at 2br/2bath townhouse this September. Just put down the deposit. It has a glamour tub in master bath, wet bar, fireplace, new black appliances, vaulted ceilings with an upstairs loft overlooking the downstairs. Washer/dryer, basic cable and water included for $750 a month. Only problem is it doesn't have a roof.

I've lived in San Francisco for 8 years, and am from Detroit, but currently live in Brooklyn. When I had a place in mahnattan it was a 500 sq ft 1 bedroom for $1795 in the East Village(shared with my girlfriend...and in the best location on earth) Now in Brooklyn I share a flat with 2 other people for $900 (I have about 250 sq ft of my own). If you want a lot of space cheap... go to Detoit. You can BUY a mansion for $70k.

btw, no car needed (or desired) in NYC, so that saves you a chunk of change...

Please stop bitching about the cost of living in the grand old USA you guys don't know how lucky you are, just for a second why don't you take your heads out of your butts (backsides) & take a look around. Price for -: 1 Liter gas US average $.97, UK average £.97. conversion $1.80 for a liter of gas (or petrol if cannot understand what i am trying to get across). Um.......ok

So, I just got back from a "get me the fuck outta here too much heat" trip....it was supposed to be 4 days, it ended up being one....long story, about 900 miles covered in 30 hours total

Ok, so I've never been to the calif/oregon board on the OCEAN side......and ya know what?

beauty that made me cry..........how the fuck did I end up in the heat and dessert my whole life????? Highest temp ever? 91 degrees, most snow ever? 7 inches......get the picture:)

Ok, to the point. In that area they do manufactured homes......I don't care.....climate and beauty rules for me........Price.......did you ask price????

How about 20 to 60 thousand with public water and public sewer (no wells or tanks)

Need to do more research, but since I don't "work" .................well, we'll see...........

So you're paying about $3.67 a gallon, and we're paying about $3.00. I don't know why we can't all bitch about it. The fact that brits are paying .67 cents more per gallon doesn't make paying $3 pleasant. Get your head outta your own bum; times are tough all over.

A few things to consider....

- America and Canada are much larger than the UK. Not only is the actual size of the country larger, but the cities are more spread out, and people have to drive farther to get around. The last time I lived there, my commute was 9 miles to work (14km) each way. So even though gas is cheaper, they still need to buy more of it. Plus, in most suburban areas, people literally have to drive everywhere... to the store, school, work, etc... not saying it's right or wrong, just saying that's the way it is there.
- Gas is traded with the dollar. If it were the pound, it would be cheaper for you guys... but if the dollar looses too much of its value, the next logical currency would be the euro, not the pound. So you'll still be out of luck.

that would be so alabama if your house didnt have a roof

i lived in birmingham from 2001-2003 i knew of alot of people with wierd houses.. i remember there being houses that had single wide or traylors stuck stuck in the house.. apperently people would build a house around the traylor and pull the traylor out of the house when it was finished being built.

Trading of oil is now moving to Euros (with the notable exception of China), I think this may be part of the world problem at the moment. Not that helps us directly in the UK.

For a 4 bed end terrace house (with a small garden) in Warrington we pay £240 all in (mortgage). We're 25 mins on the slow train from manchester. And about 40 mins to Liverpool (25 in the car).
