[OT] Berlin/Barcelona/Budapest/Belgrade - which one?

Post by Hedroom » Tue Jul 25, 2006 12:25 pm

I'm bored of these british isles and fancy an adventure. I'd like to move to one of the following cities for a year or two:

Berlin
Barcelona
Budapest
Belgrade

Which one should I go for? :D

Recently Budapest has caught my eye... not sure exactly why, but I think it sounds like a very interesting place.

Hard choice..it would be a toss up between Berlin and Barcelona for me...Berlin for the music and clubs, Barcelona for the food and the people..Half a year in both..

I went to Belgrade after Exit festival the other week and really enjoyed it. I have to say my opinion may have been somewhat swayed by the fact that the girls were HOT though! (ahem, excuse my shallowness but a man's got to take these things into account). Seemed really lively too with a buzzing atmosphere and a lot of alfresco dining late on a monday night.

Spent several days in Budapest before and after Exit and fell in love with this place too. I'd love to know - what's the electronic music scene like? And how much is rent?

Barcelona - been to Sonar three years in a row so visited a fair few times. LOVE the architecture and the atmosphere.

Berlin - Seems to be the capital of all things electronic these days. Never visited but heard great things.

If anyone could give me an estimate of living costs in any of these places it would actually be appreciated very much :D

Exactly, what do you want to know?

1 EUR = 270 HUF, you can rent a small, but satisfying (hey, our girls are unbeatable! 8) ) appartment from about 50.000 HUF (cca. 185 EUR). Of course, the inner city, and Buda (hill)side prices can vary.

If you click here you can see more.
(Short Hungarian course:
"Alapterület" = (basic) area
"Szobák száma" - no. of rooms
"Ár" = price (monthly, usually without expenses)

Without really knowing anything about the other places, I would have to say the fact that you are on this forum asking Abletonians makes it a no brainer!

Personally I am a big techno lover so I would not pass up Berlin if I had the chance to live there - it seems to me like the home of techno

I cant imagine ever being bored there, there would always be some awesome DJ/Liver to check out

course that's not based on real experience of living there so I might be way off!

Thanks v much for the info nagyember.

It might seem a silly question but is that price you quoted per week or per month?

And what's the electronic music scene like?
