Logic Pro vs Ableton 6
glad to hear my student discounted version of ableton will be upgradeable, as i would like to get 6 upgrade. Also since you guys seems to know alot about logic pro. Is there a slicer similar to the one in flstudio? I find it to be the best slicer in existance. Also how are drum mangling options in logic pro, i believe that for drum tweaking live is very limited.
Two technics 1210 turntables, alot of guitars, 2gig Sony vgz fz290, 2gig frankenstein pc, mbox, ableton, flstudio, recycle, the infinity gauntlet, and alot of spare time..
Live is the beat drum tweaker/mangler in existence. One of the things I miss in Logic.funknotik wrote:glad to hear my student discounted version of ableton will be upgradeable, as i would like to get 6 upgrade. Re: Logic Pro vs Ableton 6
logic pro 7.2.1 is the BEST program EVER!moudimixer wrote:Hi
I was considering to buy Ableton 6. The new features look all very impressive. However, I was wondering about the prizing. 600 US$ for the program, 150 US $ for operator and 200 US$ for sampler. This all brings it very close to Logic Pro 7, which boasts quite a few nice features, too.
Does anybody use both programs? Which one do you prefer??
Thanks
I live in sac, make me an offer and I'll drive it out to ya. All you'll need to do is tell me where and have the cash ready...........let's make it a "neutral" location though...
Yes, you can. In Germany that is allowed up to about 7 copies if the CD is not copy protected. Otherwise you could not even make a tape or CD with your favorite songs for your car or for your girlfriend.djadonis206 wrote: You can't burn cd's of other peoples music for your friends either

Not so with Logic.
do some reasearch man, logic 7.2 is held in very high regard by most users - hobbyists & pros. not being able to upgrade it, whenever that even happens, is hardly any reason to not buy it.
its like cutting your nose off to spite your face, or something.
'hello soundboy - would you like this awesome sound tool for a very cheap price?'
'no..im not interested in your sound tool, I want something with some kind of upgrade scheme cos I'm a consumer not a musician'
I get your point tho, with ableton live I would definatly want some kind of upgrade promise , considering thats how their business plan is geared and live has yet to reach the plateux of function& stability logic sits on. But logic 7.2 is on a different peg.....really, why would you care if you couldnt upgrade to logic 8? (nothing stoping you picking up another academic version?)
spreader of butter
i suppose it would be expensive if you kept doing it, but how many times would you end up doing it is the question ? live, yes. it would get expensive. live has gone from 4 to 5 to 6, whilst logic has been at 7 the whole time.....maybe even longer, I've only been on the live bandwagon since 4.1.4TheAnimal wrote:It's expensive over the course of time and you have restricted rights.b0unce wrote:(nothing stoping you picking up another academic version?)
as I stated, logic 7.2 is the bees knees. when logic 8 comes out, logic 7.2 isnt going to mystically become shit. getting it for any kind of good price now, is a good thing. Any argument against a logic academic license in the vein of upgrade options is a stomach churning fallacy. imo...

get logic, and never really finish a song because of all the fx and tweaks and deep functionality, or stick with live, and never really finish a song because they're so easy to sketch out that you move onto some new happy accident without finishing what you started.
but seriously, if you can get logic for $350, you gotta do it, regardless of whether you can upgrade (logic's upgrades aren't going to revolutionary, you'd likely just miss out on a new synth and some fx).

gotta chime in, i agree logic is so much better for finishing and the mix. the eq compression and reverb is so much better. and uses much less cpu. logic is great rewired to live when finshng a track and allows a much more complex mix than with live alone. live is much better for composition though. imo
If logic is so mature and doesn't follow the "we'll give you bugfixes with the next upgrade"-route, then you're probably right.b0unce wrote:i suppose it would be expensive if you kept doing it, but how many times would you end up doing it is the question ? live, yes. it would get expensive. live has gone from 4 to 5 to 6, whilst logic has been at 7 the whole time.....maybe even longer, I've only been on the live bandwagon since 4.1.4TheAnimal wrote:It's expensive over the course of time and you have restricted rights.b0unce wrote:(nothing stoping you picking up another academic version?)
