What, a bunch of ASCII letters makes you more accountable? Being "accountable" for your actions and being "responsible" are two different matters. You think being "accountable" by registering with any combination of ASCII letters that anyone cares to choose makes them accountable?? LOL You could be Bin Laden for all we know, lighten up and get a grip.

aiming to troll? I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'troll', you did kinda give the impression it bothered you alot....but c'mon fella, this is getting silly.Alex Reynolds wrote:I got upset?sixela wrote:As I said in my 'closing comments' (if you like) on the mac/pc thread, I started that thread in the first place to see if anyone had any good reasons to tighten my belt and make some sacrifices in order to get over to mac, as there have been things (like metasynth for example) which have put the thought there, but while i was surprised by the passionate responses, on the whole it gave me a great laugh, especially to see poor old alex get so upset about it and as a result get completely flamed!
If you're going to buy a Windows box, just buy one already and stop wanking about it.
I was wondering if you were aiming to troll and now I'm certain of it.

I just wanted to know if anyone had any good reasons to spend more and go to mac because I kept seeing cool looking apps for mac only, so I was thinking about it but I can't afford to spend the extra unless I really have a good reason, which so far no one has given me. The logical place to ask this would be on the live forum since it's the main app I use.
the heated responses this really simple and perfectly valid question received were surprising, I didn't realise people felt so strongly about it, but c'mon it's a flippin computer for chrissake, not like anyone dissed your religion or anything........

A registration policy would really help this forum, maybe even tying it to a serial number.
I'll bet anyone a Coke that cutting down on the guest chatter would do a lot to reduce the noise.
These folks seem to contribute very little. I have yet to see any guests help out other users, answering technical questions etc.
But they make an awful racket when it comes to every other subject. Seems a pretty clearcut solution to me.

Admittedly there's been an increase in guest posts since live 3 - guess alot more people found out about live, and rightly so, but as I tend to post alot from work on a machine other people share, logging in to make a 2 second post would get really annoying, and I've definitely offered assistance to people not logged in, I know what you mean, but I'm thinking it's kind of more colourful as is.
we can always ignore the crap, wont kill us.

get off your high horse Alex. My name is Ryan, I am registered as Quandry, but often post as guest cause I'm too lazy to login, so shoot me. I, and many other "guests", help people here all the time, logged in or not. You occasionally help people too, good for you! But often you antagonize, ridicule, and otherwise harass other people, sometimes when your dead wrong. Like when you totally came down on me for saying pcmcia is faster than usb and firewire--guess what, you are wrong. Or when you hijack threads promoting your "new album", or join threads just to poke fun and rile pc users up, like when you recently brought my mom into one of your stupid, wanna-be-funny-but-took-it-too-far "jokes".
You should look up hipocrite in the dictionary and maybe you'll see a picture of yourself.
I though Mac users were against "the system" and "big brother", yet here you are touting serial numbers and ultra-extreme posting regulations--get over it. These are open forums, this is a free world. Move to china and maybe all your dreams will come true. You instigate and encourage a large amount of the "noise" etc. you poo poo in the above post. And anyway, losts of "guests" here are just finding out about Live and want questions answered before they buy--I know, because I helpfully answer as many of these as I can, because the same was done for me. It doesn't matter if I do it as "guest" or not. Maybe instead of discriminating against us stupid pc users and guests, you could lobby for an elitist Mac-only Live forum, then we won't have to put up with your shit. Maybe start your own Live for MAC forums, with all of the discriminatory policies and unheard of registration methods you can dream up, then you'll be happy. But seriously, even hip hop thug rappers know not to bring people's moms into it, I at least HAD more respect for you than that. YOu have shown your true colors, and you may think you're pretty funny, but myself and many others here think your a total ass, and can see through the thin veil of elitism you hide behind.

LOL. Here's the response from none other than forum registered, Mr Helpful, ban gousts who contribute nothing, Alex to a guy yesterday asking for some help/advice with the hard-drive on his laptop.
So much for accountability huh? It makes the world of difference how people behave when "signed in" doesn't it?You're running Windows so you should not be experiencing any problems. Please check with the anonymous posts here for assistance and confirmation of this.
Regards,
Alex

He he heAlex Reynolds wrote:Proves my point, really.
No it doesnt. I think what you are trying to say is "Look people I have 700 posts so I know the score" he he . Well Alex, I actually posted on here the very day this forum went up as a guest. I cant recall you being here at that time.
I like the fact that I dont need to register. And considering there is no registration policy the noise in here is remarkably low.
And I have helped people in here as a guest. But any time I have trie dto help I dont get taken seriously. probably because I dont have a proper sign in name. Understandable I guess. But do look aroundn you will see guests helping others.
And anway, the forum doesnt have to be about specific Live topics. I mean thats just boooring.
