Live3 won't open for me!?!

Post by LondonPaul » Thu Jan 15, 2004 6:29 pm

OSX 10.3 - 1GB RAM

I have dragged the folder as it says to my hard drive and then when it loads up it takes ages when it say initalizing vst and then just closes itself down?

Is this programme not osx/Panther friendly having read a lot of the posts here?

Any one know whats going wrong?

Thanx Paul

Hi LondonPaul,

probably you're using Live 3.0 or 3.0.1. In that case please go to the download section of our website www.ableton.com/downloads and get the latest version Live 3.0.2.

Within 3.0.2 we fixed a bug when having an offline iDisk on Panther.

regards,
Alex

Hi Paul,

it's possible that certain VST or VSTi's could be a problem. You could try to temporarily move VST plugins from the system and the local Plug-in folder.

If it continues to crash please send me the log file of Live ("../Preferences/Ableton/Live 3.0.2/Log.txt") and also the system crash log.

regards,
Alex

i am having the same issue... works fine if i remove all my vst plug-ins and launch Live. (i have yet tried to narrow down the culprit plug-in(s))

I wonder though...is there a way to tell live to NOT automatically load the system and user VST folders upon launching?
-so i can avoid filling my menu with instruments and things i won't want to be using in live.. and to avoid issues like this..

Guest, do you say that Live hangs always while scanning "the Grand"? When you restart Live you don't get the option not to scan it anymore?

To avoid scanning the plug-ins you can create an Options.txt file and add to it
-VstNoLocalDir
-VstNoUserDir
Delete your Preferences.cfg once.
Make sure you don't set a cutsom VST folder set.

The Options.txt file is a simple Text File which has to be placed next to the Preferences.cfg in the ~/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 3.0.2 folder.

This is not an option for prime time and might cause some problems when not treated right way, but hope it helps.
