changing tempo gradually

Post by domminicus51 » Thu Aug 03, 2006 3:22 am

is there any way to do a gradual tempo change while dj'ing live? I tried assigning the tempo to a slider, but it's even coarser than just going up 1 bpm at a time with the arrow keys. And typing in decimals manually is pretty tedious...

Got a laptop with a touchpad? I like to hold down the left touchpad button and roll my finger up and down, not slide.

you just need to set your tempo range a bit narrower.... if you set the range small enough you should be able to go up in very small increments.
MBP 2.4 & a shit load of Faderfoxes!

thanks, i just found this out a few minutes ago. it's a lot better, but still, it would be nice to have some sort of preset automation that could be set triggered without being in song mode.

If you click on the tempo display, the up and down arrows on your computer keyboard will increment / decrement the tempo in whole beats.

If you hold down SHIFT while hitting the arrow keys you increment / decrement in tenths of a BPM.

Search on Dummy Clips, cool trick cooked up by Hoffman2k. Basically it's an empty clip that just sends control data to a track, in your case it would be tempo data, but I'm not sure that tempo is available in clip view.

Do you know of the trick that if you name a scene 85 bpm and launch the clip then Live plays at 85 bpm. What if you made a series of scenes with the STOP BUTTONS REMOVED, you can launch the scene, BPM changes but no clips stop.
