I've never seen the word 'stupid' so many times at once. It's a funny word when you read it a bunch. Fun to say too. stupid.
I am stupid. you are stupid. everybody's stupid. I like it.

So how hard is it to upgrade RAM in a Macbook, without going with overpriced Apple store?

Anyone can do it on a desktop, but notebooks... well i've never tried.

do you have the latest UNIVERSAL BINARY version of Live
i.e. 5.2 or 5.2.1 UB Specific.
its a $50 upgrade, i believe.

the PPC version will indeed give you glitches.

also make sure your Motu has the latest UB drivers.

also, try operating without the Motu and just using the onboard sound. If it works fine that way, then you know the problem is the Motu and contact Motu's phone support. they are very helpful.

and make sure you aren't using a firewire hub for the Motu and that you are connecting it directly to the mac.

with only 512mb of ram make sure Dashboard/Bluetooth/Airport etc are all turned off.

turn off energy-saver options and make sure you're at "highest" performance settings.

try adjusting the latency buffer in the ableton preferences panel.

a. please tell what you are doing when audio is glitchy.....playing mp3? using a softsynth? etc.......

b. Double check that the buffer isn't at like 64 or something obscene.....should be at 256 or HIGHER when running at 96k. Also, in the LIVE preferences make sure that live is set to run "same as audio buffer", that way there is no "push/pull" going on.

might be like the imac, it's these little bitty things.....basically, it just poped right in.

btw, I got mine about two weeks after the original release so I had to pay the high apple price for more ram :( The good news is that the apple ram is "certified" and doesn't always have the kernel errors that can be with third party ram.

The macbooks have instructions on the inside of the casing, actually. It's underneath the battery, iirc..

when its glitching I am..

Running 4 audio tracks in ableton out of 4 stereo pairs of the motu into a mixer, nothing fancy
buffer is set to the highest setting possible

I plugged in the old maudio 410 to see how that would go but it was even worse
