Plogue Bidule + Live users....
OK since Bidule demo does not work as an AU or VST plug in inside Live, I can't test this.......
One of Live's major shortcomings is it's MIDI automation, Live maps the first 128 parameters of a soft instrument or effect blindly, if the plug in has 400 parameters, then many things end up missing from automation.
There are certain plug ins like Absynth and Zebra 2 that allow you to assign parameters to control set ups internally. Zebra has an X/Y Performance set up that gets around this Live limitation perfectly.
For all the other synths I have I was looking at Kore, Kore has internal mapping of automation parameters that correspond to 8 knobs, and 16 or so buttons, and acts as a VST/AU host for plugins .... thing is Kore is a dongle, when plugged in, you can play your song, when not, you're SOL.
I'm hoping that you can set up something like this in Bidule. You know, basically map MIDI from a plug in to Live, using Bidule as an AU/VST to host the plug in, so that the Live limitation doesn't screw up being able to automate the filters in Symptohm Mellohman for instance.
Thanks for reading through this.

Hey dude,
The way I use bidule mainly is to route and manipulate my midi before I send it to LIVE ,or to generate envelopes and such... I got a whole complex setup
in bidule which I won't go into....
I open up live and then plogue...comunicate the both w/ MidiYoke...
If you have any more Questions I'll try and help u out...
p.s. I agree with you - live is still A little flawed when it comes to midi mappings/routings... but they're getting there !
peace .

I'm wondering though, can you use Bidule as a VST inside Live, and host VSTi in Bidule while it's a VSTi/VST itself? In this case, it should allow you to route MIDI to Live from the VSTi it's hosting in any way that Bidule wants....MathematiK I wrote:Hey dude,

My reasoning is that with this setup, there would be no need for the MIDI yoke/IAC driver etc... You open up a song with Live, and Bidule is loaded into the tracks you want Bidule on.
Have you tried this?

I use it standalone (load after live so they dont "rewire"),
actually in my setup I use bidule to manipulate the midi INs from the midi ports ... and pass it to live via midiyoke ports.
I also use it as cc LFO generator... cc Sequencer .... a midi/kbd translator...
a joystick/midi translator and much more...
I rarely use it's sampling/audio features.
in short I use bidule to process midi mayhem to my liking and send it into live via midiyoke of my choice... (in my live prefs. only midiyokes are enabled as midi IN ports)
Of course bidule offers a whole array of complex stuff to dive into from synth designing to granular manipulation ,I guess the vst version is good if you build a synth/effect which you want to play inside your live set ...
and I'm guessing that you CAN use it as some sort of "RACK" in vst version though I havent tried it.

You can definately load Bidule VST/i and then load plugins inside it and you can also use a cc to params module to route cc's from Live into the plugin inside Bidule too. I've also got KORE and will test this more thoroughly too - I've only had Live 2 days though and most of that has been fine tuning my setup and testing everything works - oh, and learning how to use it (lots more of that to do
)

Cheers - it's fantastic and a lot deeper than I'd expected too.MathematiK I wrote:aMUSEd,

ps. I notice you're using a Hid to midi bidule for your joystick. I'm having little success getting mine set up properly - I can get it to recognise it and out put midi cc's but many plugins with XY controllers seems to just ignore it - it would help if I could edit the mappings but although it accepts text edits they don't seem to change its behaviour. How do you set this up?

With my joystick it works fine...
But you can also check out this free app :
http://krypt.dyndns.org:81/joy2midi/
with this software u can setup your specific joystick...
and send it through it's own yoke..
hope this helps ...
oh check this out too while you're at it:

Re: Plogue Bidule + Live users....
I would also need some help to set up Bidule as a Live vsti...
I don`t get any Midi inside Bidule (setup as vsti in Live 10, last Bidule update, Win 10 PC)
tried to route the Controller into Bidule directly, It is recognised as Midi Input, but no signal and no Midi Clock working. Tried the same setting standalone and it works this way, but I tried to sync it that way to live, and first look it semms to work, but the Midi Clock has a sort of "hickup" in Bidule, since it is runnung a whole Pattern and next cycle it does 1, and, and then jumps back to one, running a full cycle crossing the one and jumping back to one and repeat the whole prcess again and again...
My goal would be to setup Bidule just to route Midi and running Midi Arpeggiator ; Cthulhu Chords and Melodic Flow. Also I would prefer to have it as Plugin in Ableton, so I just have to open one Application...
Hope someone can help me since this thread is an old one, so thanx for reading anyway
