Crackle/Pop noise when playing along to loops with midi kb.

I bought my first audio interface the other day. Guitar center recommended the Lexicon Omega (usb) over the Firebox (my first choice). I can make beats and stuff in ableton and output to my PA system from the interface, but as soon as I try to play along with any software synth/piano using my maudio midi kb I get crackles and pops here and there. Is this interface shit? I get this even when I set the buffer pretty high (total latency around 25-30 ms).

*right now my midi kb is running straight to my ibook usb as I dont have an AC adapter to run it to my midi in on the interface So i have my interface to ibook usb1 and my midi kb to ibook usb2. Is that the problem? I feel ripped off and really frustrated.

*crackles even when CPU usage is under 20%, when im using both hands and sustain peddle specifically*

I changed the option "Plug in buffer size to 1024...it was As Audio before. It seems to be better. What does plugin buffer do?
