mac or pc?

Post by zaqhousedj » Sun Jan 18, 2004 3:45 pm

have you ever heard the saying "its not what you play, its how you play it" from a dj perspective? well...

its not what you're using, its how you use it. mac and pc obviously have their pros and cons. so just enjoy which ever platform you use if its working for you and get on with your lives! this forum is for talking about tips and tricks for LIVE, and thats what i was hoping to find here.

i'm glad Live is available on both platforms, and i've used it on both and must say it fucking rocks! my loop based compositions are tight and sequenced without spending a lot of time tweaking a sample to fit in with the rest of whats going on. that, my friends, is what is important to me! being able to get on with my creative flow instead of stifling it and sometimes even halting it when you lose interest in a sound because you can't tweak it the way you want it in other softwares.

so screw the pc/mac debate. props to ableton's team! PEACE! 8O

Does a mac---pc discussion belong in the tips and tricks section? I don't think so unless that's the only trick you've got up your sleeve

Stop this, forever and ever! Long live the freedom of choice!

you know what?
i'm sorry to say this, this way, but, all of you who post all that mac/pc crap are bored because you obviously aren't writing music. i've seen cats with compaq "luggables" rockin it. no really...turn off the internet for a few hours, sit down and work on your beats, vocals, whatever. when your shit is blowin up (underground or commercial), and someone asks what you use, THEN preach about your "religious" preferences. til then...pleeeeease shut the fuck up! real artists talk with their art...

You're probably right guest, but why do you post here, then, instead of making music?

too right, unfortunate by-product of the broadband era is it's too easy to just click the little blue 'e' and get drawn into this weapon of mass distraction - the other thing i guess it's a by-product of is geeks (me included i'm sure) who spend so much time in front of computers that these things start to become a warped substitute for socialising.

tip: keep the internet machine in a different room

trick: log in to internet forums as guest and vent a some frustration by hounding faceless text people with inane crap about what toys they play with, works for me

New software

Post by sowlo » Wed Feb 04, 2004 6:58 pm

Apparently there is a new software coming out at Muskmesse. All you have to do is plug a microphone in and utter a few ideas. Ex "song about love" and LIVE spits out a guaranteed hit. They said they would guarantee a top ten hit. The bummer is that it will only be available on MAC. Shite! Too bad I've got to stick to my PC.

On another note. I like your site Alex. It is clean cool and to the point. Bonus!

Here's a tip/trick for ya.

My buddy, running a screaming hot PC, got a virus recently. He and his girlfriend share the same computer. Being evil people (According to RIAA) they do Kazaa. Guess where they got the virus from. Now his screaming hot PC takes two minutes to close a window.

My tip:

I concur with the anonymous poster - keep the internet machine in another room, but for different reasons. Don't make music on your word processor / gaming system / internet browsing device. You're just asking for trouble that way, particularly with PCs.

BTW, I ain't ragging on PCs. I own a mac Pbook G4 500, and it doesn't have the balls it once did (these new apps are SOOO damn hungry for processing power!). I love my mac, however, I will likely switch platforms and go PC, cause the Mac laptops just don't have the same juice per dollar that the PCs do. It's a money issue.

Making music is even possible with a c64 !

This topic is a nonsense to me ! Buy whatever you think it's sweet for you and please make some cool sounds..

Cheers

What's that, Mac or PC? I'm sorry, I was writing down my composition by hand, note for note and hoping to see it played by someone one day...
