syncing 2 laptops both running live

whats the best way to connect 2 laptops both runnning live so that the midi clock on one controls the other?

If on Mac, you can use Airport and Audio midi Setup. Create a network, join then join in AudioMidi. Midi clock in Live and unable in out of messages. One computer is the master(hit play/stop) to sync the clocks. It works great.

It's the 'sync' setting in the preferences, and the EXT on the slave machine.

Master PC set sync to out, Slave set sync to in and in the main view hit the EXT button on the slave.

Put a midi cable between the two, connect midi out on the master to midi in on the slave.

Put the same mp3 on both computers, launch the clip on the slave then on the master, both will run, check the audio, bump the bpm up and down, they should track, even if they drift after a second they'll sync up. It's just best to test it before you start a jam and get your groove on.

another way to elimate "drift" is to send audio from one laptop's spdif interface to the other's. the digital clocking will keep them sync'd together as well.

AJ - any preference on the clock type? I've also noticed that the song/loop button appears and reappers randomly, bug or what?
