Consolidating mutiple Midi Files with Program Changes to one

Post by djlv » Sat Aug 05, 2006 7:58 am

I have a series of midi files in a track within the arragement view which I would like to coslidate to a single file. Problem is, when I consilidate I loose each of the individual program change numbers that were in each file! Anyone know how to get around this?

Many Thanks in advance!

More info about the situation

Here's a bit more detail to hopefully help clarify exactly what I'm trying to achieve...

I’ve programmed a bunch of songs which are being used in a live stage show.

Each individual song was created in the Arrangement view & has been saved as a separate Live Set.

Currently during the show each new song needs to be loaded individually. This is quite awkward & not ideal so I would like to now create one Live Set which holds each individual song to help streamline the process.

To do this I’m thinking of rendering each song to a stereo audio file & then loading into one Live Set. Each song would be loaded as a clip as part of its own scene within the session view….

HERE’s THE TWIST:

Each song also contains a MIDI track which holds a number of separate MIDI files which are each assigned a different program number. Each one of the program numbers triggers off a diiferent light scene in an external lighting desk which is receiving the program change information via MIDI.

If I consolidate all the separate MIDI files on this MIDI track to one file, I loose all my individual program changes.

Does anyone know a way around this?

How can I render/consolidate all these individual program changes to one file so I can then load it into my new Live set as one file without losing the seperate program change information?

I hope I am making sense here! I would certainly appreciate any guidance you can offer.

A solution here would warrant legend status!

Many Thanks in advance...
