Using PS2/Xbox 360 ontroller as xy controller?

Post by Silence » Mon Aug 07, 2006 8:50 pm

Is it possible to do this? if so...how?
how would i go about using a ps2/xbox 360 controller as a xy controller in live?

and is there any way of controlling the xy thing on the plugin interface on live with a couple of roterys? like BCR2000?

It is possible to use one of those controllers with Live but to control the xy field I don't think so.

MIJOY PRO

MIJOY PRO is a VSTi MIDI plug-in that allows you to use a joystick to add MIDI controller information to a MIDI track. It can be used to control other VSTi instruments, FX plug-ins and MIDI hardware in realtime. For further details check out the tutorial we made for MIJOY and the specifications.

FEATURES
bar_end

* Joystick to MIDI VSTi
* Support for multiple USB joysticks (1 to 8 )
* Internal ON/OFF switch (active/inactive)
* Slider status
* Offset function with assignable minimum and maximum for each MIDI controller
* MIDI Channel Setup
* Smoothness (from 1 to 5)
* Output Mode Setup (Sequencer/MIDI Port)
* Assignable MIDI controllers for X and Y axis, Z rotation and Slider 1
* 32 memory slots
* Display showing X, Y status
* Z Rotation status
* ON/OFF for each MIDI controller
* MIDI Thru (to mix different MIDI sources. For example, MIJOY + Masterkeyboard.)
* Idle Mode selection (on press/on release)
* Binary MIDI controller with assignable min/max (buttons 2 to 8 )
* 2 Button Modes (Press/Release, Switch)
* 2 axis types (cartesian, radial)
* List of standard MIDI controllers values included in the software package

Requirements: Soundcard, Joystick, Win VST Host able to recognise joystick information.

NO need of joystick to MIDI cable adapters.
MIJOY PRO works with USB or older joysticks.

Tested in Cubase SX, Nuendo and Sonar 4.

Thanks to a new operating mode, MIJOY PRO is now compatible with sequencers that do not filter joystick data but cannot select a VSTi as MIDI input (i.e. Sonar 4).

you just set 2 ccs (the X and Y ccs sent by a joystick) to control a parameter each. There's no need to assign them to live's XY field.

a neat thing is to use joy2mouse...
I use the left joy to ctrl the mouse pointer the I can freely 'pick up' any xy I want and play with it (I assign X button to left button) and I can trigger clips or whatever...
