Fav VST Plugins for LIVE

Post by metrognome32 » Wed Jul 03, 2002 5:02 pm

Hi All,

Whats your favorite VST plugins to use in Live? With so many out there it would be nice to see who\'s using what. I only use custom Reaktor VST\'s but would like to know what else is fun with live live.

Peace

Waldorf D-Pole - a very nice, sizzly filter
PSP Vintage Warmer - too beef up the sound

any of the MDA lot really, but especially mdaDubDelay and mdaCombo.
oh, and nothing beats "Rye" (one of the Pluggo plugins).

i've been using pluggo with live, and albeit some don't work, most do, and those that do...damn. they can seriously mangle the bejesus out of your sound. i love these plugs. for the price and what you can do with it, pluggo is mega-ultra well worth it. go download the demo at www.cycling74.com and see for yourself. for those who already spent your money, there is a tremendous list of freeware plugs at www.databaseaudio.co.uk . some good stuff to be found.

B.t.w.: Pluggo 3 is quite more stable with LIVE than the older 2.1 version!
The F.A.Q. referrs to Pluggo 2.1 !

Ohmboyz does a few very nice jobs with synth-loops and percussions for me, I use a lot of the UAD-1 plug-ins, especially the pultec is just g r e a t , I tried out da tube (from Cubase SX) - has a nice warmth with it, all the GRM-tools are wonderful to play with in Live (even if I have to save extra presets for them from time to time, Live doesn't seem to have a rule on remembering my settings), and for sure Waldorf d-pole.

Yes, and I don't think I have a single set running without the build in reverb (first class mode!) at least as post-send.

I recently abandoned loads of plug-ins: Amongst them orange-vocoder 'cause it sucks! Others had to go because I feel that it is better to have a few good ones.

I really would like to use some of the DirectX plug-ins from Waves, these would do the best job for finishing things in Live, but I didn't find a working shell for them (hope ableton will sort this out in the future).

Finally I need m o r e send-tracks, don't you too?

Has anyone tried the FXpansion's VST-DX wrapper?, maybe this works.
