problem when deleting unused files

Post by darren » Fri Jan 23, 2004 5:37 am

hi there...i use live 3.0.2 on os9/ibook 700/640 ram.
when i quit after a session, i get the usual question if i want to delete the unused files from the self-contained sets folder. this i always do, but recently i get a warning message reading >

"operation could not be completed. an error #-50 occurred"

so i have to just say "no" and then quit and go into the folder and delete the unused files myself.

i recently re-installed 3.0.2 and it happens EVERY time now when i quit. it never happened before with the same version, only since i re-downloaded (is that even a word?!!) from the ableton site...anyone any suggestions????
thanks.....

Hi darren,

it is really hard to recommend something because it sounds strange that it happend after the reinstalling of Live 3.0.2 but worked before.
Is there any other software, driver etc. you have installed/uninstalled at this time? Sometimes there are some extensions conflicts on OS 9 which could result in strange isuues like that. But mostly it is hard to track it down.

regards,
Alex

Hi Darren,Alex

Not to make things even more confusing, but I had the reverse experience. I used to get the error message but now (I'm not sure why) auto-delete works. It does take an awfully long time though, 20-40 seconds - I thought LIVE had hung at first.

Tibook 500
OS 9.2.2
Live 3.02

RME cardbus/multiface

hi alex and pitch balck....thanks for the ideas.
i have checked my extensions but nothing seems to be causing conflicts, so i gues i will do a bit more checking and let you know if i find a way to resolve this. maybe, like pitch black, things will sort themselves out....
cheers, D
