The most snobby Protoolers are nubees who
could barely afford that used digi 001.

To me pro is being able to use whatever is at hand
and make i sound good.

It's easy:
1. Compose in Live and record with a nice interface.
2. Render all the individual tracks out as a "Pre-Mix".
3. Toss 'em in PT and mix mix mix.
4. Render.
5. ...
6. Profit!

The best of both worlds. It's what I do when I have access to nice studios.

Yeah, i don't understand why people shake their fist at it. It's a good thing to know for so many reasons. It's in 99% of the studios in the world and cut every Film, commercial, radio spot you have ever heard. The hits list in production is well beyond compare. Not knowing PT basics is like not knowing how to drive a stick. Speaking a little pro toolese is good for you. Likewise, not knowing Live is a disadvantage too, imho. Forget the bitching, it's not that big of a deal.
