Warping entire songs(wavs) sounds ugly.

Post by poops » Thu Aug 17, 2006 3:59 am

Am I doing something wrong?
I ahve LIVE 5.2 and Ive never noticed cause i usually dont warp entire songs, but there is this sound; very degrading. Its mostly in the high hats , and crisp percussion area of the track.

Ive compared the WARPED version to the Original file in ITUNES, and I can hear the difference drastically.

THe thing is when I warp im not even manipulating the project tempo at all, im leaving it at the tempo of the og file(wella t least as close as possible) and it still sounds strange. IT's subtle but very noticeable.

Any suggestions, links, etc?

Try different settings. If you are using the file close to its original BPM, you may be able to get away with repitch mode, which is more like a turntable, and will increase or decrease the pitch corresponding to the difference in BPM.

Also try complex, sometimes beats mode with 1/16 for transients.

If I am playing relatively close to the original BPM, I often use repitch though.
