5.2 Save set self-contained = mono audio files become stereo

Post by Beatworld » Sat Aug 19, 2006 12:56 am

I have just noticed that when I "save set self-contained" audio files which are mono in the Set are saved as stereo in the self contained Folder and are blank!!

It guess the process of turning the mono audio file into a stereo one creates a phase cancellation type issue and I end up with stereo audio files with no sounds in them.

Audio files that are Stereo in the Set save ok in the self contained foider.

Can anyone tell me whether this a bug ( as I hope) or whether it's the current state of affairs (which if so makes the "save set self-contained" feature useless).

I can't recall this ever being an issue before 5.2 and I started at Live 3

Thanks in advance

Upon close examintaion of the self-contained folder I see that each audio file is saved twice.

One version of all the audio files has "0001" added to the start of each audio file name.

The other version doesn't have "0001" added.

It is the version with "0001" added has the problem descibed in my first post, the other version is Ok. Mono files are saved as mono files with sound.

The end result is that the size of the self-contained folder is double what it should be.

Now that is wierd 8O

Sure is. It's not like that here. Audio files are as expected, and they're accompanied by an .asd analysis file.

   Its not like that here anymore either....

When I recorded an arrangement of the set from the Session window in real time I had all the tracks armed in the session view before I started recording.

In basically all of the tracks I dropped clips in and out etc as you do as I recorded....but I ended up with heaps of "audio tracks" in each track in the arrange window.

One track for example may have had 3 "audio tracks" because the first one was actually blank, the second one was the clip when I dropped that clip in for however long I wanted and then the third one was blank again after I turned that clip off. (but the track remained armed).

Thankfully it appears no one wasted any time trying to offer suggestions

Time to lie down.....
