Operator & Live 6

Post by Pasha » Fri Aug 18, 2006 5:03 pm

I've read that Operator has a new 24db filter and some new algorithms.
How many new ones?
Are this new features enough to make it sound warmer (more analog like) ?

well I am, but since none of my Live 5 presets show up I can't easily make 1:1 comparisons.. subjectively I'm happy as always to use Operator for a variety of things. the new filter definitely is nice when making percussive sounds with it.. and the new tube saturation plugin helps "warming it up".

new algos are the top right one ( kind of looks Like a "J" ) and the bottom second from right.

havent really messed around with the new algos and filters yet but in simpler i do prefer the 24db/oct filters over the 12db/oct. to me it doesnt really seem like much of an update- wonder if ableton will ever give it a "proper" update, ie new routing, lfos, more flexible envelopes, master envelope etc. which other soft synths out there get over time. i understand that the new algos and filters come free of charge but it would be nice to have a kind of paid upgrade. operator is a cool synth but seems like other synths out there are improving while operator has remained mostly the same. just my .02$
