Live in NYC?
Live in NYC?
Who's out there? The folks in SF are making me wish I lived out west - where's the love in the big apple?

the grass (poof) is always greener...
Yo mang:
I lived in NY for 10 years as a kid. Now I have plenty of friends out there. NY has a serious scene! Everywhere I went (the village mostly), was frickin kickin! I would imagine the saturation of artists in NY is higher than here. Maybe a little darker tho... I love NY's potential but I'm too earth friendly to handle living under a highway...
If you need more contacts, I can bug some of my freaky buddies and see where you can hook up with others...
peace, light and the eternal cosmic groove...

That would be awesome, bro, though I hear you about the darkness. Me & the Mrs. really don't want to live here, but we're in the nice catch-22 of not being to move out cuz we can't save enough, and not being able to save since it's expensive. In any case, the concrete bothers us both, and the clubs here, the big ones, at least, lack a good vibe.
I'd love to get in touch with a good crew - I'm awaiting the acquisition of a laptop. In the meantime, I made my 2nd Live mix (http://www.djrx.com/mix/) and working on downtempo & tech-housey tracks.

Live in NYC?
i'm in NYC too. you should check out "Share" at []pen Air on Sunday nights. it's dope. bring your laptop and jam, trade software, etc. it's a good time and it's free. lots good stuff happening this summer all over town. i'll be using Live with Reason in a bunch of upcoming shows. if anyone wants to jam or try to organize a show drop a line right here. i think it would be sick to have a night of good electronic music for a change. maybe even get some video peeps involved. there's plenty of spots in Manhattan and Bklyn. i'm feeling suddenly motivated.Rx wrote: Who's out there? Sounds great - as soon as I acquire a laptop! I'm all for moving out of NYC, but might as well enjoy it while I'm here.
Where is []pen Air? I'd love to drop in. I generally avoid the clubs and bars since the music is always spotty. (I suppose that's why I'm making music ;)) Check out my last mix if you're interested - http://www.djrx.com/mix/ . It's more a regular-type mix (songs by other artists), though Live allows me to only play the parts of a song I want, match pitches, etc. I threw in one original track - took a bunch of loops I made in Reason and sequenced them on the fly.

Memetic what Kind Of Laptop Did you get, Brand and Specs????
share this info why don't cha
system specs
sure . . . here goes:
Toshiba Satellite 5105 S501
P4 1.7 GHz / 512MB RAM / WinXP Home
40GB HD
32MB Nvidea Graphics Card / 15" display / 1400x1050 rez
DVD/CD-RW drive
3 USB / 1 Firewire (and other various ports/jacks/slots)
Yamaha audio chip (disabled)
Also, to be complete:
EMI 2|6
Keystation 61 ('cause i live in a shoebox and had to crate my SG-1D) :-(
LAPW 5.1.3, Reason 1.01, Reaktor 3.0.5, Battery 1.01, Live 1.5, Sonar 2.0, all stable. (absynth on the way!)
still putting it through it's paces, though . . . have only had it for a few weeks, and as you can see there are quite a few configs to test out . . . but so far i'm a happy camper. the only known issue with the satellite is its weak-ass battery -- only lasts for about 01:45:00. so i'm gambling that some kind of power outlet will be available when i'm gigging . . .
cheers
