live with microkontrol

Post by pvh7 » Sun Aug 20, 2006 3:09 pm

Hi!
sorry for my bad english.
I try to use live with microkontrol.
I try with operator, I make a korg template and I assign the kontrol by midi learn of live. all good.
the problem is that I can use the knobs and faders only an the original track (track 1). If I put another istance of operator on another track (for example track 4) the midi controllers don't work.
Is this normal?
thanks!

I think I get what you're trying to do. You want to run 2 instances of operator on different channels but want to control (for example) the filter cutoffs of both synths from one knob or slider on the MicroKontrol?

At the moment this can't be done. Live 6 will give you this ability so hang on until the end of September ;)

I think he doesnt want to do that, ghosttrax....

Maybe you havent choosen the correct MIDI chanel on your second operator track.... on the input 's track ("MIDI From"), select the Korg channel you are using, or better "all ins" . Maybe that is your problem's solution.

sorry for my english too!!

I think he means that every instance of a vsti has to have its own midi learn set up.

Then if you remove the instance the midi learn is gone again and not there if you add the same instance to the same channel again. I don't understand why the midi learn settings cant be remembered regardless of the vsti being currently loaded into a channel.

Can anyone explain how this is any better in Live 6? I'm using a Kontrol49 and the fact that it is available in remote surfaces seems to make no difference at all.

It seems to me that I'd have to create Korg Kontrol49 scenes and swap between them for different vsti's, setting up the Kontrol to send the CC's which the vsti wants by default. As live "forgets everything" unless you have a template with all your midi learning set up, all the vstis in the same place and channel all the time then never delete them.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or confirm this? Has Live 6improved this situation?
