Ableton Live 5 Problems with ProTools LE

Post by izzi63 » Mon Aug 21, 2006 5:30 am

Hello,

I just purchased a PowerMac G5 DualCore 2.3 with 4.5 GB of Ram, running
Tiger 10.4.6 (not Intel). I'm using it with a DIGI 002 with ProTools LE
7.1cs9 with the Music Production Toolkit installed.

I just installed the latest version of Live 5 (5.2.1) and I'm having some problems.

When I launch Live by itself either by using the Apple built-in audio option or the Digidesign CoreAudio driver going out of the DIGI 002 and load the Live Default Song everything seems ok. But when I use it with Pro Tools I'm having issues.

I do the usual: Launch Pro Tools and then set it up to control Live.
Then I launch Live and load the default song that comes within Live.
When I press playback in Pro Tools I'm getting this flanging effect from the
default song in Live. In addition, the song is very “choppy”. Then when I
quit Live and then quit ProTools, ProTools crashes every time.

Also if I open Pro Tools and then open Live and do not load anything into Live and simply quit both Pro Tools and Live, Pro Tools crashes everytime as well.

All of the above procedures were done with "New" Sessions in Pro Tools.

I originally installed Live (5.2) and kept this version after doing the
upgrade to 5.2.1. So when I ran into problems with Live 5.2.1, I tried the
same procedure with 5.2 and ran into the same problems.

Just a side note: I also have the latest version of Reason (3.0.5) installed
on this computer and I am not having any problems with this program working
within ProTools.

I also use a Powerbook 1.33 17” with 2GB of RAM, running Tiger 10.4.6. I
have ProTools LE 6.9cs4 installed along with the latest version of Live
(5.2.1) and the latest version of Reason (3.0.5) and I’m having the same
identical problems with Live on this computer as well.

I’m totally stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

maybe it's a conflict between the rewire components in reason 3.05 and live 5.2.1

i don't use protools on my machine so I cannot test it for you.

I'm using PT 7 and had those symptoms as well ...

... but they stopped some day and I do not know why.

Sorry not to be of much help. But this is what happened. It started one day and stopped the other. I did not traced my installations/deinstallations/configuration modifications etc. during this time.
