If somebody could give a quick tutorial of assigning the pads to fx that would be great. I know it can be done, but haven't been able to suss it out.
I've got Live open right now. Impulse on track 1, a reverb on 2. I've set the output of track 1 to "2-audio", but I can't get any farther.
(I know, I know rtfm...)

The manuals overrated - if you want to learn pimp game hit the streets and make dat money
oh wait
Uh yeah
You got all your drums, slices etc in your impulse
now create 8 tracks - on the tracks there's that little thing at the top that says [audio from] select the Impulse track and the little sub tab select the actual drum you want to assign to that track - turn your track to either MONITOR IN or record enable - stack your effects on top and you're in
proper

I use it alot. I have buit hundreds of custom kits.
real simple, D&D, great interface
Totally, and you've hit on my second question: When making your custom kits, do you find/create the samples yourself? I've been looking for a decent drum sample library to build some kits from. Was checking out SampleLab's Drum Fundamentals-
http://www.samplelab.com/slweb/df_info.jsp

I have gone through my record collection(5000+)
and sampled all the drm breaks i own. I yhen chopped them up, and make my own kits. I did this a couple of years ago, with my mpc4000.
before I sold my mpc4000, I resampled all of my kits, so i could use them in other software/hardware.
Peace & Love, Lord Toranaga

there are a couple of things that make me really like impulse over maybe doing what adonis does with simpler
TIme and Stretch and the modes for stretch - get busy automating those and you can have a whole world of fun

can't knock tha hustle...

Werd. I'm an idiot... All this time I've been trying to figure it out in the Session view. I always assumed the controls were identical in either view, but no - unless I'm mistaken, this
has to be done in Clip view.
proper indeed!

there isn't much else to say about the joys of chopping up yourown drum samples............when you make some heat and you know that is you and not someone else's library the feeling is euphoric.
anyways big ups to mpc forums......do u still go on lord?
did you know dj e.d.e. has his own record shoppe now?
peace

these days it's hard to beat Guru for beat programming, I love impulse too
its just something about guru (features i guess) that i love, and its a great combination with live.
Mac, Mpc, and a Microphone
Thanks for the Slicer Abe.

I second this... But I've given up on using Impulse until it get's this feature...
I've gotten into battery, does anyone know of a way to send each cell to a different track (i.e. sending the hi hat to a return track in which i might have a flanger)?
Cheers,
Claude

cbf finding the thread, but in our beta testing one of the Abes said this click was a -very- difficult one to fix and we shouldn't hold our breath for 6. All you have to do to get around it is consolidate the clips before you drop them in... piece of piss to do.

just set the audio in on an audio track to battery then the drop down underneath has the individual outs
mine only goes up to 8 though - I only have battery 1 dont know if that makes a difference

What id like to be able to do with impulse is (now maybe you can do it and im missing...) is set my synth up so that each hit on impulse plays a differnt percussion noise. my synths has banks of drums, but its a pain in the ass sampling it or setting up a diffeent instance per drum sound.
Id like to set the synth up multi timrely and route one synth to the impulse and choose apatch for each pad.
possible?

hi there I just started using pad kontrol with impulse...
how do I assign sounds from various sets to each of my pads...
I mean: is there a general menu where I can see ALL sounds from Impulse and assign each of them to a pad?
also..how would I save that in Live? otherwise everytime I have to reload one or two sets and bla bla bla
thanks!

I like it more and more now. Used to do everything rewired into ReDrum, but moving over now. Might diitch reason soon.
The only problem for me is the lack of program change in the Ableton intruments. Not sure I'll ever understand the idea behind this, since many 3rd party VSTs have more functionality than the native ones.
But other than that it's grand.
