try artillery, there is a video on this site you can watch. it does very beatrepeat functions as well as filters and flangers and delays. but it's far more intuitive and "real" feeling than livecut and the glitch plug.
(if the site is in a funky language there is an english button at the top of the page)
watch the video though, I love this plug so much.

i played around with dbule glitch vst on my work pc for awhile when it first came out.
how musical it is, is directly related to how un-lazy you are.
if you are willing to spend a little bit of time setting the effect settings so they aren't so over the top and programming in patterns that work well with what you are using it on, then it can be great.
if you want to simply let it randomize some stuff for you, then expect instant aphex, it won't seem very good.
also, pc or mac, bidule is worth digging into. the learning curve will be steep if you have never used anything like it (max/msp, pd, reaktor) but definately worth it. it has audio buffers, all kinds of midi converters, envelope followers and can load and control your vsts and audiounits.
i make all kinds of things in it that to buffer glitching, rearranging, etc (like beat repeat) but have total control over what they do and how they do it.
its great because once you get into it and over the learning curve, i took for example, supatrigga and buffer override, i listened to them and thought hard about what they were doing and figured out how to recreate it in bidule. but then i am able to say, what do i wish was different, and make it do exactly what i want.

artillery looks nice, is it polyphonic?Johnisfaster wrote:http://www.sugar-bytes.de/

can't really tell from the video, like in their video when they have delay and then loop mapped to the keyboard, if they pressed one of the delay keys at the same time as one of the loop keys would both happen?

it is polyphonic but the fx have a routing that can't be altered, but it's still kick ass. you can make a beatrepeat glitch roll and then add delay and a filter sweep with 3 different note inputs all at the same time.
currently you have to use a second midi track set to input and route the midi notes to artillery if you want to use it in live. but I really enjoy using it more so than most any plug I've used. very controlled, not random and not "instant aphex twin" style

yeah i just played with the demo for a minute. fun stuff.
in live 6 it will rule, because you can always set the same midi note to toggle a dry/wet on a simple delay, or any other effects you want to combine it with and racks will let you "expand it" since they can have parallel or serial effects paths.
i like stuff like this (and bidule) because you can set it up so you can "play" the effects in realtime like an instrument instead of relying on randomness or maticulous sequencing of automation data.

am I the only one that couldnt get lucifer to do anything interesting in the least? it just kept making the same damn sound no matter how many notes I fed it and how many knobs I tweaked it just kept going "boop boop beep" and then a shi**y "scratchhhhh" sound.
maybe I'm just retarded.
if they gave presets with it maybe it would be more usable.

I agree with what you said, and once felt as you do, but give it some patience, as it's now my dblue Glitch replacement for Mac.
There's a great video of it here:
