..::Tarekith::.. "Sworl" My first Live 6 tune.

Post by Tarekith » Sun Aug 27, 2006 2:10 am

This is my first time using Ableton Live to do a track 100%. Tried many times in the past, but always had too many issues making the jump from SX3. However, the new features in Live 6, and just the way it seems easier to navigate now made a huge difference. I still feel the top end isn't as transparent as SX, but I have a test I'll be doing to compare the two as accurately as possible in the next few days. Anyway, I had fun once I forced myself to forget my SX key commands. :)

Here's the high quality version:

Funky downtempoish stuff.

good stuff Tarekith. Just curious what instruments you used for this track?
Also, definitely post back with your findings regarding the top end. I am thinking about making the full switch to Live from sx as well.

Oops, had the links reversed, fixed now.

I didn't use any of the Live instruments for this track, as I didn't want the beta to run out before I made up my mind about Sampler (doubtful I'd get it). The next tune I plan on doing 100% with Live instruments and effects though, starting that one in a few minutes. :)

In this one it's a mix of me playing guitar (Ibanez s540 and Pod XT), the keyboard (Virus TI), and my Machinedrum for all the beats. Plus some samples and loops from my "found" collection.

Beautiful track! Nice understated feel, and gawd, the Machinedrum just sounds so warm and fat.

Hey cool tracks - specially sitting here chilling

I do have one bit of constructive crit - all the cool shit (like the guitar and pads and what not) bring that out more - the drums seem to kind of wash all that stuff (back, not out) I'm feeling all that - I like the groove and everything

I'd just bring all that out more - the drums will shine through regardless

peace and keep at it!
