Max. Talk about craazzy resolution - you can extract all sorts of info from an Intuos or whichever tablet you have.

Also, if you want something less tweakable, but easier:

mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

i know that theres a vst out there thats specially designed to be used with a wacom tablet, but i cant bloody find it. -.-

im guessing you could build one pretty easily with max/msp though.

never used max/msp before. that tablet2midi looks interesting, might have to buy it.

i realy want to buy a cintiq 21" pen display, but it should be a plain touch screen as well. i think ill wait since multi touch is just around the corner. can you imagine how good that would be? treaking as many knobs and faders on screen as you have fingers?

Machinate -

this thing is great!

Thanks a bunch for this link
Tablet2Midi - http://livelab.dk/tablet2midi.php

I have a wacom Intuos 2 -
My tablet has been sitting around latey. Bought it for use with photoshop.
Love it for that... had put the thing up on the shelf to make room for a contoller... was thinking about getting a BCR2000 but none to be found right now, everyone is sold out... I might still get one but I digress.

I played with the free version for a little while, and hour or so and I knew I had to have this program. I paid the 39Euro's and it was emailed quickely.
Will convert position, pressure, speed, angle, tilt, rotate, tangent, z-pos. (I have not tested beyond position, pressure) to CC, note, pitch, or prog.
Will send 7bit, 14bit, NPRN, or 4 diff rel modes for each slider.

You can make switches, toggles, horiz sliders, vert sliders, xy etc.
Example - I put 1 vert slider down by right clicking on screen of the tablet2midi program. Then I double click to see the config menu for that slider and discover that the position, pressure, speed, angle, tilt, rotate, tangent, z-pos can all be assigned different midi channels, types, numbers.
So that one slider can do postion, pressure tilt.
Now I can fill my screen with contollers and switches, midi note triggers, xy joystick like thingys (I have not figured out how to make it spring back yet).

The designer has made is so it can act like a mouse or the control surface based on space bar. I know - that is the start stop - but the space bar only works when Tablet2Midi has focus. and Yes it works without focus!
you can minimize it and pen about like crazy, I have not tried it with the mouse on it tho....

He has made a printer interface so you can print your templates to put under the sheet. I have not tried that yet...
VST too

Alright... I have no vested interest in this, I just want to see him keep developing it....
He has has a free trackpad converter for synaptics pads.

PC only -
Check it out.

yeah ok i know its a bit late to reply here but..

what the hell.

i just got the demo, and im still not sure how to get it to work as i want to:
i select the window, press "s" (to get a slider up), start the size of (press once with the pen for a (topleft) then once more for b (bottom-right corner, to form a box with a slider inside it).

all dandy. it supports pressure etc, but heres where i get stuck for some reason.

it refuses to send position, that is, when i move the slider up my selected knob moves, then springs either up (if its moved more then 50% of the max velocity), or down (if opposite of the above).

now, the manual really isnt much help, and i dont really know that much about midi, hey like 1 year ago i didnt even have *any* controller whatsoever.

now my question is, why does it do this, and how can i tell it to stop?

btw, my tablet is a trust TB-4200.
if i could get this to work properly (and get a printer *cough*) id buy it without a question.

The author has not updated the software....
I wish he would...

I made a mackie control surface out of my wacom!
Works pretty good, i still need to figure out the vpots better.
I can hack it to work with a very custom trimed down version of GenMce.

It is very nice to use with the laptop, since the tablet fits in the same bag...
Unfortunately, you can't move more than one controller at a time.
I'll try to post a screen shot of it soon.
If anyone is interested in my intous2 mackie map for tablet to midi, pm me.

wmidi would be nice if it worked. I just get a oxc0000142 error and it doesn't start up.

I've tried tablet 2 midi from livelab.dk but I was either too dumb to get it working or it wasn't working properly. I think the way that Bootcamp alters keyboard settings screws with it slightly. Its quite confusing though.

Hmm, I just tried it and got a message about wintab.dll missing, thats a tablet specific file. I dont have one :(

Why not email the developer, he seems to be a good guy. Responds pretty quick to requests over at KVR
