Quick freeze with massive distortion

I'm trying to record a track but after the count in everything freezes briefly and the volume spikes with massive clipping ( over every previously recorded tracks ), it then goes back to normal... Sometimes with normal playback ( not recording it does the same thing.. I'm a newbie with Live and this is the first problem I couldn't figure out for myself.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks
