Wish : quantize velocity

Post by wanway » Mon Aug 28, 2006 8:33 pm

Hi Ableton Team,

Is it possible to have the quantize function for velocity ?
I have a very good rythmic pattern and I want to correct the power of the bass drum only : all my velocities are different and I want them all to be at 100 (velocity scale).

I am also looking for a shortcut to directly set the velocity of a note to zero (a note muting shortcut).

Thanks a lot

theres probably an easier way to do this but create another midi track, use the scale plug to allow only the kick drum to pass, use the velocity plug to make all velocities "fixed" to 100, then create another midi track to record the output of the second track. then copy and paste the new pattern (out of track 3) into the first

there has to be an easier way though, maybe I'm too tired.

theres probably an easier way to do this
1 just select all the notes you want to quantize

2 grab one of the selected velocity dots and drag it up to the top, the velocity is quantized to 127

3 drag down to the value you want

voila
I am also looking for a shortcut to directly set the velocity of a note to zero (a note muting shortcut)
you can mute midi notes via the contextual menu "deactivate note(s)"

Thanks for your tip.

I've found an easy way to do this : I select all the bass drum notes and then I drag one velocity of the group to the end top of the velocity scale (it flattens all to 127) and finally I put them to 100.

Is my wished quantize velocity function a useless function ?

Anyone got a note mute shotcut tip ?

haha, I totally thought that might be it but since live wasn't in front of me I couldn't test to make sure it worked so I gave the extremely extended difficult fix

Hi guys,

Nice thread, but do you think I should move it to the general or Feature wishlist forum? I would say the first.
We try to keep that part of the forum for beta testing issues...
