Korg PadKontrol setup with Ableton

Post by dtomster » Mon Aug 28, 2006 8:13 pm

Hi there,

just wandering if someone can help me to understand how to use the Korg Padkontrol in Ableton.
I used it before with Tracktion and Reason, but I found out that Ableton is so much more made for me to produce music.
Problem now is that I can't find out how to let the Padkontrol get in contact with Ableton. I just can't get any noise out of the Padkontrol, nor can I link sound to the pads.

I just don't get it, with other programs it works, so maybe I'm missing sometjing here.

All help is really welcome here

Thanks in advance
Brgds

you should read the padkontrol manual & the ableton live manual.

the ableton live manual has an INDEX - so you should be able to find the right page quickly (MIDI being the buzzword you need to keep your eyes open for, mainly connecting midi instruments). Not sure about the padkontrol manual tho.

What are you trying to do?

Fire clips? Play impulse kits? trigger FX?

Is there a template for Live that came with the controller?

I know you need to map some of the pads to actual notes in order for impulse to play, perhaps C1-C2, but double check that in the manual to be certain.

hi I am having trouble with Padkontrol and live also.

I have a midi channell with impulse and I want to play an entire kit.

I can only get threee pads to trigger Live's 3 samples in Impulse...!

Thought I would post here rather than make my own thread. :P

First read the Korg manual on how to assign midi notes to individual pads or use the supplied software editor.
Then assigned 8 pads of your choice to the white midi notes from C4 to C5.
Should work :)
