How do I Start Live when external midi clock is on??????

I have a weird problem. i can easily syncronize live via midi clock with traktor 3. but when i try to start or stop ableton to make the 2 tracks synchronous, nothing happens!!! please help...

If Live is the slave, start/stop must come from the master.

this is a set back we have to live with... we sync 2 laptops, only the master can start/stop...

Well, if they are to always be in sync there IS no other way.

man, that´s really shit. why did they do this???? the 2 most popular music programs and you can´t run them together. you know i simply wanted to use traktor´s midi clock to syncronize with ableton.
but i think i found a solution: i simply rewire ableton with steinberg cubase and use cubase as midi slave. what do you think about that??

You could assign the external sync button to a key press or MIDI note/cc and thus just switch it off and hit play whenever needed.

Äh, sounds good but how do you do this? I mean how can you assign a key for external sync??
