Fantastic. But I don't have that much debating power.
I completely agree with you, isn't sarcasm a wonderful thing. 8)

Don't mean to be picky, but if you're gonna harp on about how smart you all are, it would probably be more effective if you sorted out your grammer.

I assume you meant grammar.

re: grammar
funny, I was going to post the same thing but didn't.
mainly 'cos this whole thread is terrible. I can't make sense of the original posters argument - if there is one?

everybody! I am anti-anti american but those that are anti-american should not say eat organic food is good, because it is good. Not in third world but everywhere that IQ is measured but differently!

Is pretty much how I understood it.

People from developed nations other than the United States often feel frustration because our country is so rich and powerful. So they often enjoy criticizing the United States, because it makes them feel superior. In my experience, this is most common with Canadians and Scandanavians. I've never really put too much thought into why. Frankly, I don't give a shit. I just know that I've spent enough time in Canada to notice how much Canadians love to poke fun at Americans.

I've never taken it personally. I actually find it quite funny how Canadians spend so much time thinking about how they dislike Americans, while most Americans don't ever waste a single moment worrying about Canadians. They are so inconsequential, nobody really acknowledges their existence.

Same goes for Scandanavians. Who cares, right? What the hell have they done lately?

Dynaudio makes some nice loudspeakers, and they are from Denmark. So I guess you can't say the country is completely worthless.

I'm sorry I ever started this...

It was supposed to be a parody on all the america bashing threads... now either you all got it and are playing along... if there are - god forbid - anyone who hasn't gotten it... sorry.

Oh by the way... did you know Ableton is probably going to add a burning flag on their splash startup screen? - they've even posted a vote...

I thought that was your intention, but parody and cariacature in a medium like a textual forum (which has no real nuance to indicate irony) is doomed to fail unless you make it quite obvious.

I don't think many people here realised it was an attempt at irony
, both sides (the Herbal Warriors and the American Eagles) seem to reflexively react to anything which looks like 'the other side'.
If either camp is likely to be involved you need 24 point bold text saying 'this is a joke' or they will simply press 'launch' as they have been programmed to do.

I meanwhile, remain loyal to Oceania

I like to use the  to indicate sarcasm, or when I am poking fun.

you penups' should try living in Wales. It's manktiforous, with Toenails and bees everywhere it hard to concentrate on music and splanking. Touch my soily lips and trust in the good lube of heaven and earth, for he hast not forsaken your idle whims to be cast amongst the dripping sea of tumours.

Nationalism sucks from any angle. "Americans are stupid"/ "I hate Americans" is so tired - something a highschool kid in an American suburb says to impress his girlfriend. If you don't fit that bill, then the generalisation is embarrassing. I've met idiots - good, bad, and indifferent - all over the world. And I know a couple of smart Americans, too.

I'm with you on the gov't needing an overhaul, however. We could start with electoral college reform and follow through with campaign reform for good measure. Make the votes meaningful and the rest might just fall into place.
