Clicks, pops, dropouts, CPU spikes OSX

Post by Jed » Wed Feb 04, 2004 7:47 pm

Running OSX 10.2.8 on a G4 866 titanium, experiencing these consistently with Built In and RME drivers...512 RAM, too little, I know but shouldn't result in as much as I'm experiencing, and this with low CPU demand Live files...Happens on even small sessions.

Anyone else?

I have the same PB but with a Motu828. I know someone with an RME and he had weird sound dropout&glitch probs as well. Can the latency buffer setting be lowered in OSX RME... only an idea, but for the Motu I think it cannot be done....
I have dropouts too but very occasionally. Sometimes they occur in Quick Time. Do you experience this too<

By Quicktime you mean...Playing sound files in Quicktime?

I seem to get the same amount of problems with the RME as with built in.

With OS 10.2.7, I played consistent songs with a buffer of 256 using the motu 828. No dropouts (except rare ones when I first launch play in a newly opened project), no glitches. Some people think 10.2.6 or 10.2.7 are much better than 10.2.8 (but others may think just the contrary !).
