Track Coloring

Post by Tarekith » Fri Aug 18, 2006 11:57 pm

I wish the area of the Arrange view Tracks with the track name and automation selectors was able to take the color of the clips on that track. If more than one color is used on the track, then maybe it would take the first clip's color or something.

Would make it easier to glance and know what track you;'re about to edit. small point, but would look nice.

I'll take your wish further, and add the ability to add custom icons to each track. It would give instant visual feedback... if we'd have icons for guitars, bass guitars, synth, drums, etc, we would be able to know what each has just by glancing at it. Might seem like a really silly tihng, but it does help a lot when working with high numbers of tracks... just my $0.02

I posted an idea like this earlier but for the session view...
i still think that it would be really helpful.

It would be especially helpful for Live sets where you don't have enough screen space to display all the tracks at once... where you need to scroll from one side of the session view to another. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this right or now... so here's a mock up... any thoughts?

I had some similar ideas about this but personally I think if you color the track settings area in arrange it would become a bit of a candyshop..

this is a more subtle version that would really be a nice feature..

your eye immediately connects the elements with the same color..

I like that Poster, that would be a great compromise.

I also tried a mock-up with colered tracks; trust me, that was soooo not Live..
it felt like my first sequencer..
think this indeed a great compromise..
now hope that some certain ppl in berlin think the same thing..

Oh, hell yeah! I want both ideas. Color of track on arrow buttons and the ablility to have custom icons next to your track would be THE SHIT!!!!

God, that would make things a lot easier to keep track of.. No doubt!
