Static when recording live instrument???

Post by ibadukefan » Thu Aug 31, 2006 2:50 pm

I am recording some live bass over a drum track that is a minute and a half long. About 40 seconds into the recording, I begin to hear static in the monitor. I am running a Powerbook G4 with 1 GB of RAM. Why is this happening?

Hi,

I get a similar thing happening with my set up. Try disconecting the mac from the mains... in my case it happens because there's some kind of ground loop from the various bits of equipment I have plugged in. I find if I disconnect the laptop...problem solved.

Good luck.

I have my mac power plugged in, and I am running my bass through an Ozonic Firewire interface, which is also powered. So, the only thing I can really disconnect would be the mac power.

exactly!

try it...it worked for me...apparently it's when you have two connected things plugged into the same electrical loop...problems may occur!
