the orb, fsol

anybody producing tracks like these guys? if so how do you find it in live?
any tips?
the reason i ask is i still have cubase on my system and am keen to just use on sequencer

I try sometimes but it's hard not to sound like 'me' if you know what I mean.

The secret I think to FSOL's work is incredible attention to detail, that is every sound you hear has been meticulously captured, processed, mangled and of course sequenced. I doubt it's anywhere near as random as it sometimes seems.

Of course the most important part of their sound is space. They don't clutter the audio spectrum, they let sounds linger and work with each other which can be very hard.

..oh and lots of reverb.

i saw the orb on their last tour, and was fucking dissapointed.
i love their releases, but watching two guys play geriatric house shit is fucking boring...i heard such great things about past tours.
transit kings at big chill last year was so much better.
anyway, imho the key is to keep the stuff organic.

Alex Patterson (The Orb) is a bit of a chancer. Brittney has had more input in to her music if you know what I mean. hes not uncommon. Another highly overrated one is David Holmes. He cant play a note or operate any gear yet somehow got all the credit for an album that was performed completely by live musicians based around jams. Incredibly on said album he applauds his ability of standing on a New York street with a portable dat machine recording a street rapper or poet (I forget) He then takes this recording and places it over the backing track of the live band. In an interview or the album notes he lauds his producing abilities and mentions how proud he is of his work on that particular song

wow. here i thought they were both rocket scientists.i heard jeff mills makes all of adonis's beats though..
