using clips in other sessions

Post by serotoninsteve » Thu Feb 05, 2004 11:35 pm

Hello!
It would be nice to have a feature to copy clips from several sessions into a new one( with all the envelopes)!
So you could build you a Live setup for performing from all the clips of your different productions!
Greetings! 8)

But you CAN!!!!!

highlight the clips you want to copy, hit COPY [apple-C on Mac] open the new song, select the slot for the top-leftmost clip to be positioned and hit paste [apple-V]

And there you have it. Clips pasted with envelopes!

(rtfm? :wink: )

Yes, the copy/paste works on that basic level, but that assumes:

1)you know which song(s) houses the clips
2) That you know that those clips will work in the new song (without being able to preview them as clips.

Furthermore, if you want to compile or import clips into a project from, say 3 different songs containing those files/clips, you end up having to close A, open B, copy, close B, open A, paste , save A, close A, open C, copy, close C, open A, paste, save A, close A, open D, copy, close D, open A, paste, save A. Get all that?

It seems like it would be so much more efficient to be able to import entire songs into an existing project, with clips and tweaks intact, or being able to open a read-only copy of the so you could have the source and target project open and available at the same time.

Great function! Thanks
You can also copy several clips at one time!
