The Crocodile Hunter aka Steve Irwin is dead RIP

:(

I had the chance to spend time working with him on his film. He is in person what you see on TV and he is sorely missed by a nation.

I found out about this an hour ago. I feel terribly sad for his wife and his children. I think the thing that is the most tragic about this is that it's not surprising, that being that an animal killed him. Guys like him, Jeff Corwin and the others that do documentaries in extreme proximity of these animals walk a very fine line by their choices. And though they have some knowledge and training as to what to do when things go awry we as humans tend to forget that its our brains that separate us from the animals, but a lot of animals still have the brawn.

Of course, that's not to underscore his death, it's still very much a tragedy.

RIP

Like SPikee said - guess it comes with the turf....Like the great photographer who died in the remote south west of Tasmania (except I've forgotten his bloody name!!)

But:
Thanks to his TV programs, Irwin is perhaps the best-known Australian in the United States.
between him and Crocodile Dundee, it's no wonder Australians still have the "cultural cringe" factor - WELL JUST YOU YANKS REMEMBER THE LAST 3 STAR WARS MOVIES WERE MADE HERE TOO!
