I'll second that...

He did so much for wildlife conservation and awareness in general. If it was his time, at least he passed while he was doing soemthing that he truly loved.

Looks like it's already been vandalized and reverted at least three times today.

No...Gone Too Soon...I first heard the song at a funeral for a friends teenage son who was killed by a drunk driver...not a big Michael Jackson fan but that song really evokes emotion at a time when someone passes at what seems to be way before their time...

Wow. I always loved stingrays. Did a batch of illuminescant sculptures of them 5 years ago for my associates. Somehow i was never aware that they were predators. They still look awesome though.

Poor man. "were running out of heroes"- Al Pacino, The Insider.

 ...I was just discussing that very incident (antagonising croc whilst holding baby in the other arm) with a friend today ... thanks for posting, that pic puts a whole new slant on the wacko-jacko baby dangling fiasco...well..its kind of interesting to me anywho.

I really, really liked steve irwin...but to be truthful it was comical or ironic - we got high and tuned into steve to see him antagonise dangerous creatures - I suspect a big chunk of his audience watched for the same reasons - could be wrong tho.

I'm sure he did great, selfless things outside of the show....but you dont see david attenborough shouting at a camera (crew) and moving his hands in and out of the dangerous creature's face/space to teach us about them . thats why zoom lenses were invented......'crocodile hunter' was grotesque for these reasons, kind of like 'judge judy' ....I'm kind of disgusted by what I see, but entertained by it if I've smoked enough high-grade. entertained by the madness of man & the depravity of show-business and to what depths someone will go to entertain, and what the masses find entertaining.... even through ironic viewing...

I'm not trying to diss the guy, i love him to bits....just criticising the show some..

he was an idiot. I wont go as far to say he deserved it but if his intention was to open peoples eyes on life on our planet he did a bad job. Attenbourough blew the guy away anyway for opening the publics eyes to nature.
Personally I will reserve my thoughts for the inoocent men women and children who were blown to bits in Iraq over the past weeks. I think thats about 350 people!

Considering his temperment I thought that was a very sweet tribute by mercyplease, I shed a tear over that one.
