I can preview WAV files...How do I get them into tracks?
Hello Everyone,
Any help would be appreciated. Sorry...I'm new to this. I've been reading thru the manual and going thru the lesson screens but I must keep missing it or something. My question is this:
How do you get the waveforms, like the ones included from Big Fish Audio, into a track and start composing with them????
Thanks,
Troy33

I found the clip-level quantization chooser now. That helped a little.
Maybe I'm asking the wrong questions. Sorry for the confusion. I used to work with midi sequencing software on a mac just before audio recording started to get integrated (1989). What I'm really trying to do is use the sounds on a MIDI file so I can play them like an instrument recording midi events. Can't Live be used as a midi software synth? I've found how to work with the "Simpler" files which seem somewhat limited. Is there a way of getting more sounds like the "Big Fish" wav files into "Simpler"? I considered REASON software but it didn't seem to record audio along side (like a vocal track).

OK. I found the answer in the Ableton help movies on the website. I though I'd explain for anyone else that might be new to Live 5.
1 - Insert a midi track
2 - Drag the "Simpler" folder icon itself from the file browser and drop it onto that midi track. The device appears at the bottom of the screen.
3 - Browse for the wav file desired and drag it into the Simpler device window at the bottom of the screen on the space appropriately marked "DROP SAMPLE HERE".
The same can be done with droping the "Impulse" icon into a midi track which allows you to drop any wav files into the different "slots" to build your own 8 pc. drum set.
That was simple.
